Where to look for a sunny terrace in Paris
- Canal Saint-Martin: open banks with afternoon sun and an apéro crowd.
- Le Marais: narrow shaded streets; the small squares and rue de Bretagne catch the sun.
- Saint-Germain-des-Prés: the classic cafés on wide boulevards get sun most of the day.
- Montmartre: up the hill, stepped squares and terraces with fast-changing sun.
Summer and year-round terraces
Paris distinguishes year-round and summer terraces (April–October), including ones built on parking spaces. The map includes both and estimates their position on the pavement or the roadway from the licence type.
